Regular Meetings

Pursuant to IC 5-14-1.5-5(c) the Hamilton County Council will meet on the following dates in 2022. All meetings are held in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Hamilton County Government and Judicial Center. Meeting dates and times are subject to change. Please view the County Council calendar for more information on scheduled meetings.

Purpose
The Council is the financial power of the county, serving as a check on the Board of County Commissioners. The Council duties are to:
  • Adopt annual budgets
  • Fix salaries
  • Fix the county tax rate
  • Furnish financial assistance to any community center for the mentally handicapped located in the county
  • Incur county indebtedness
  • Levy taxes to provide funds for constructing,
  • Make appropriations, re-appropriates and transfers of funds
  • Repair and remodel jails
