The Association of Indiana Counties on Sept. 28 presented its 2016 Local Government Cooperation Award to Hamilton County, the city of Fishers, the city of Noblesville and the state of Indiana for their teamwork on the State Road 37 improvement project.

Each entity is contributing funding to the
transportation project, which aims to ease congestion along the commercial corridor by replacing signalized intersections with roundabout interchanges. Preliminary work began this summer, and construction could start in 2018.
The award was presented during the AIC Annual Conference in Fort Wayne. Award winners are chosen by a committee comprised of elected county officials from across the state.
This is the second consecutive year Hamilton County has been honored with the Local Government Cooperation Award. The 2015 award recognized the county’s efforts to improve access to post-secondary education by bringing an Ivy Tech campus to Noblesville.
