Posted on: December 22, 2022[ARCHIVED] New Improvements at the White River Campground

Improvements to the White River Campground will continue to be made throughout this winter and upcoming spring seasons, with the intention of further improving the camping experience for guests of the popular northern Hamilton County camping facility, according to Hamilton County Parks.
The most notable improvement project will involve the construction of a new campground office facility following the recent demolition of the previous structure. The new facility will house the check-in desk, guest services, camp store and administrative operations of the campground. In addition to the new office building, an improved wireless internet system will be installed, as well as updates to the remaining structures.
It is anticipated that the construction projects will require five months to complete, which will necessitate pushing back the 2023 opening day to May 25th, 2023. Reservations will be taken online at myhamiltoncountyparks.com or by calling 317-770-4430 beginning January 3rd, 2023 at 9:00 am.
These latest improvements are several in a series of enhancement projects that have taken place over the course of the last few years at the campground. Recently, the county parks department acquired additional land adjacent to the campground for future improvements, and prior to that acquisition had increased and improved the campground’s RV pads, constructed a new state-of-the-art playground, introduced an online reservation system, and increased accessibility to Strawtown Koteewi Park, through the installation of the Patterson Historic Bridges. In the fall of 2022, the Steven R. Nation Trail connecting the campground to the neighboring town of Cicero was completed, which will provide campers convenient trail access to the nearby lakeside community.
Hamilton County Parks, along with the White River Campground staff, are excited about the ongoing updates and encourage the public to track the construction projects’ progress on its Facebook page, by visiting MyHamiltonCountyParks.com or calling 317-770-4430.
