Ken Alexander was elected to the Hamilton County Council in 2018. He represents District 4 which includes Adams, Washington, and part of Clay Townships.
Alexander graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering & Management through the Lyles School of Civil Engineering. Throughout his career in the construction industry, he has been afforded the opportunity to work as a developer, builder, subcontractor, and owner’s representative on several iconic projects across the country and throughout the state. He was recently asked to support IU Health in its ambitious multi-billion-dollar consolidation of Methodist Hospital and University Hospital in downtown Indianapolis. In his role as Program Director, he oversees all construction and design activities related to the new 44-acre campus which is scheduled to open in 2026.
Prior to joining the County Council, Alexander worked for the City of Westfield as Director of Public Works and then as the Executive Director of the Grand Park Sports Campus. Working for the City of Westfield opened his eyes to the impact of local government on our daily lives and allowed him to use his expertise to restructure and improve the Public Works Department to mirror the processes and procedures we see in the private sector. It is that same passion for creating efficiencies and challenging status quo thinking that drives him in his role as a County Councilor.
Alexander and his wife Jenni have been married for 14 years. They have three children. Alexander is active in numerous charity organizations including the ACE Mentor Program of Indiana and Marian University’s Forging Leaders Committee. He is also an active member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church where he serves on two committees. In his spare time, Alexander enjoys playing sports and coaching.
